    Kicking Asthma

I have suffered from asthma since I was sixteen years old. Most of the time it's under control, but it is a chronic condition that I have to keep in mind with all my activities. Many of you may not know that asthma is the leading chronic illness among children and the cause of more than 5,000 deaths in the  U.S. each year. My own son developed asthma when he a young boy. After several trips to the doctor, albuterol & oxygen treatments, inhaler and allergy treatments he got better and now, at twenty, he seems to have outgrown it.

I'm delighted that my employer, the Port of Oakland, has made a committment to participate in the Bay Area Lung Association's 2006 Blow the Whistle on Asthma Walk, scheduled for September 30, 2006 at Lake Merritt in Oakland. I've joined the walking team and have set a personal fundraising goal of $500.00 to help the Lung Association in its fight against asthma. I would appreciate your support in helping me reach this goal. Please, help me Kick Asthma by visiting my personal donation page here and follow the instructions to make a secure online donation.

If you contribute to the asthma walk (no amount is too small), I'll enter your name in a blind drawing to win a pair of hand-knitted socks, tailored to your color/pattern preferences.

I would appreciate any contribution you choose to make. Every little bit helps.

I'm with you! Or at least, I wish I could be there with you for the walk (I miss Lake Merritt!) -- but I will absolutely support your fundraising since I can't be there myself. Good luck!

This is so close to home right now, as I'm waiting for the pulmonary specialists to call me back (today or 3 days from now, love that).

I'm on my way over to contribute - I've had asthma since I was little, but it wasn't diagnosed until I was in my 20s - I spent a lot of my childhood with chronic bronchitis.

I developed asthma five years ago, and it has changed my life (not in a good way). I came over from Chris's blog. Hope you raise tons of money; I'm in!

Okay, I just made a donation--my best friend growing up always had trouble with asthma, and in the last year or two, so have I . . . go cure!

You don't need to do any fundraising to find the cause and cure of asthma. It was proved several decades ago, but doctors have suppressed it because it is free, and would lose them their income from asthmatic patients.

It's difficult to keep a secret on the internet, and my website has more information.
