Did what, you might ask?? Why, I finished the Cal Sox before the Big Game Rally, that's what!! I knitted at the staff meeting yesterday, then after dinner and into the wee hours. Knitted after waking up this morning, which is when I realized I might just get them done. Then knitted right through the lunch hour and VOILA!
Here they are on my desk, just waiting to be Kitchenered:
Of course, I did have work to do (pesky work). So I had to stick the sox back in my bag and do "important" stuff for the rest of the day. Picked up a big bucket of KFC for dinner (once in a while I am so grateful for fast food), and then Kitchenered the toes in the kitchen, while waiting for my sister and her boys to arrive (we were going to the Big Game Rally together).
The finished product:
They're laid out on an embroidered dishtowel my DH brought home the other day. We both may be a bit obsessed with our football team this year.
I was so anxious to get the Cal Sox done because they were intended as a gift for my nephew, Quinn, who will celebrate his eighth birthday
tomorrow today (jeez, it's after midnight!). No sooner did I finish the photography, than the expected guests arrived.
The gift was much more successful than I ever could have imagined. He put them on:
He said all the right things. "I'm gonna wear these to school on Monday!" and "They're not just the right colors (blue and gold), they're comfy!" And he smiled:
Awww! What a nice boy!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUINN!!!!!
